Restaurante NAU was founded in 1962, in the heart of Peniche. Since then it has become a home for generations of guests, families, collaborators and friends.

The past is honoured. The present is lived with dedication. The future is built with truth.
The story of NAU began in 1962. In a town deeply connected to the sea, a house dedicated to Portuguese cooking, fresh produce and hospitality was born.
Across more than six decades, recipes, memories and ways of doing things were passed from generation to generation. The restaurant's history was also built by the people who worked here, the suppliers who stood by the house and the guests who kept returning to the same table.
The current generation took over with respect for the roots and the desire to add its own identity. The aim is not to break from the past, but to care for it, refine it and carry it further.
Portuguese cooking remains at the center of everything. Evolution happens through product selection, technique, detail and the overall experience, while preserving the truth and memory of every dish.
NAU is made by its team, its guests, its suppliers and everyone who helped build this story over the years. Caring for the house also means caring for those relationships.
